Body
Frame, Ergonomics
Body consists of two subsystems: Frame and Ergonomics. Frame consists of designing the frame, the structural heart of the car, and projects associated with it. We do a lot of looking at applications of forces on the steel frame and manage the welding process. Ergo manages driver positioning and components such as steering wheel, seat, and headrest. Ergo looks at adapting the car to work with different drivers and explores different manufacturing options for our components. Skills you learn and practice on the system include CAD, welding, machining, and structural simulations. We do research into different manufacturing processes such as welding jigs to setup welds, carbon fiber for the steering wheel, and expanding foam for the seat. We all work together on each part of the process. For example, ergo members contribute heavily to frame welding, and chassis members play a major role in manufacturing our ergo components. We encourage y'all to ask questions if you have any, it’s all part of the learning process and helps all of us get better.
