The Corporate Relations role on the Electric team focuses on building and maintaining relationships with individual and corporate partners to secure both monetary and nonmonetary donations. Members gain valuable experience by proactively seeking new sponsors, maintaining existing partnerships, and serving as a bridge between design systems and operations teams. Success in this role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a self-starting attitude. With key events like COTA, unveiling, and competition, sponsor relationships play a vital role. This year, CR secured support from companies like Total Energies, Lattice Semiconductor, and TDK, whose contributions—from funding to battery cells and electronics—directly advanced the team’s sustainability and innovation efforts.
Public Relations serves as the voice and visual identity of Longhorn Racing Electric. Through strategic communication, brand development, and media outreach, PR connects the technical achievements of the team with sponsors, supporters, and the broader UT community. By translating complex engineering milestones into compelling stories, PR ensures the team’s innovation and collaboration are visible, understood, and celebrated. Our work focuses on four key pillars: digital presence, sponsor engagement, outreach, and visual branding. We manage and grow the team’s online platforms by creating cohesive content that showcases progress, highlights team culture, and strengthens public connection. PR is also responsible for the design and execution of the car’s livery. This involves collaborating with design members to create a professional and visually striking design that reflects the team’s identity while maximizing sponsor visibility and brand alignment. What sets our PR team apart is our deep integration into a student-driven environment. We collaborate directly with engineers and operations members to ensure our content accurately reflects the impact of the work being done. This close connection allows us to tell stories that are not only creative and engaging, but also rooted in innovation, precision, and the spirit of Longhorn Racing Electric.
Treasury is responsible for the purchasing and procurement of all parts of the Electric car, supporting engineers by fulfilling their orders. We also monitor each system’s budgets on the Electric team, providing insight into how much they are spending throughout the year and categorizing the team’s expenses. Members of the team can expect to learn about third-party purchasing, budgeting, and using financial insight to make team decisions. We are looking for members who are interested in the financials of the team and willing to provide their own perspective to improve the purchasing process for next year.
Sustainability consists of an integrated approach to resource management, team analysis/research, and grant acquisition. By integrating environmental responsibility into Electric’s operations, we are developing a framework that aligns with UT’s sustainability goals while bridging engineering and operational strategy. Our work opens the door for technical innovation while promoting environmental and social responsibility, shaping a new standard for performance and outcomes.
